Ok I can hear the outcry already but to be clear I am not saying Tudor is better than Rolex.
There are some legitimate reasons so here my 5 reasons to consider a Tudor over a Rolex.
1 Cost
Tudor can be considered in the range of the brands such as Longines, Tag Heuer and possibly even Omega though that might be a debate for another day.
What Tudor have been able to do is make great watches with great specifications at affordable prices.
Rolex have the history and reputation but with that comes higher prices as they are seen as more premium and more exclusive.
Rolex is seen as a status symbol and that means you are paying for a higher price whether you purchase it retail or on the grey market.
Tudor’s ability to make watches at affordable prices means you are getting a high-quality brand whether you buy it on either market.
2 Availability
Rolex is without doubt the watch brand that knows how to make you wait for your watch.
Rolex currently make around one million watches a year which is far less than the demand, it really is a case of supply and demand.
Waiting times can be from around one year to six depending on what model you have ordered.
Tudor on the other hand is readily available at most authorised dealers even their most popular watches will only take between three and six months to be ready to wear on your wrist.
The chrono pink may have been a slight exception to this but now even this one can be bought online.
If you really must scratch the Rolex itch, then patience really is key, or you can purchase on the grey market ultimately pushing up the cost of your choice of watch.
Rolex are building some new sites to speed up delivery the main one should be ready in 2029 so in the meantime keep checking in with your AD you never know.
3 More Adventurous – Born to Dare
Tudor’s own tag line is “Born to Dare” and over the last few years they have certainly lived up to their words.
From introducing new materials such as bronze and ceramic on their Blackbay range to the Blackbay Chrono range they have made watches that are innovative and loved by Tudor fans worldwide.
Rolex on the other hand have stuck to their principles and been less adventurous but with a splash of fun every now and again namely the Oyster Perpetual Celebration and Day Date 36 with jigsaw puzzle emojis.
By letting little brother take the risks and see what works and what does not Rolex have made in general minor changes, but any change made by Rolex is big news.
As they say if it ain’t broke…
4 On a Roll
It is fair to say Tudor were not always the darlings they are now and quite some years ago not many people were talking about them at all.
That all changed in 2012 when they released the Blackbay 58 and suddenly Tudor had some momentum the watch become an instant favourite with watch enthusiasts and non watch fans.

Tudor however did not sit back and admire what they had produced far from it in fact they have produced great watches year after year.
Frome the Blackbay Pro to the Blackbay Chrono they continue to produce watches that are loved and continue to keep people interested.
Even the Tudor Ranger which some might say is one of their lesser releases over the last few years is now gaining popularity.
Watches and Wonders 2024 again saw them steal the show with the Blackbay 58 GMT and the Blackbay Monochrome.
5 Fits the needs of People
Along the same lines as Tudor being on a roll, Tudor’s ability to listen and produce watches that people want is something to be admired.
They are producing watches that are currently on trend from smaller dials like the Blackbay 54 to the vintage aesthetic Tudor certainly are killing it right now.
While their watches are certainly not cheap, they do fit the price point of affordable for what you are getting, with excellent movements that are COSC certified to watch bracelets that have the excellent micro adjustments Tudor watches just hit different right now.
Tudor really do have it all whether you are looking for a sporty watch or just going to the office or looking for that watch for a special occasion Tudor have an option for you.
Rolex is Still King??
I go back to my original sentence I am certainly not saying Tudor is better than Rolex, far from it.
Rolex watches are magnificent they are way ahead of anyone in terms of watch sales and reputation.
If you ask someone who is not a watch fan name a watch brand nine times out of ten, they will say Rolex they are a marketing dream.
While watch enthusiasts know how good Tudor are there is always the stigma that they are in Rolex’s shadow, or you cannot afford a Rolex.
If you are looking for a statement piece or a watch for that special achievement, then Rolex must be up there but Tudor is a very good and viable option.
