Claude Valentini Superior Sports Watch

This particular watch was gifted to me for my 30th birthday almost 20 years on the Claude Valentini Superior Sports is still going strong.

A watch that you probably won’t find in many places today this is definitely a watch that has a lot of sentimental value for myself rather than being the most trendy name.

Let’s have a closer look at the stats…

Face & Case

This watch is on the smaller side coming in at 37mm & with a lug to lug of 40mm this fits on my small wrist perfectly.

The dial is a lovely white colour with blue sub dials which gives it a very nice contrast, out of all my watches this currently is the only watch that has a white face.

It has standard baton markers with lume on the hour and minute hands only.

The date window is set at 3pm but with this watch coming in at 37mm the date is quite hard to read.

The bezel is your standard fare the clicks are quite satisfying with a little resistance.

It has standard pull out crown which does take a bit of work to unscrew but I like that as it makes it feel more secure.

Strap Type

A stunning bracelet in my view with polished links and after almost 20 years of wear there are not many scratches to show at all and I have worn this watch a lot over the years.

It has a standard clasp with a safety catch for extra security but what makes this one stand out is it does have some micro adjustment which is a really nice touch.

The Movement

A quartz movement accurate as usual for quartz watches, the battery does not need changing too much though I do wonder how much I spent before a battery for life came in.

Water Resistant

30 metres water resistance it will definitely resist water splashes but just ensure that crown is screwed in tight enough.

In Conclusion

A lovely watch in my opinion the case size of 37mm really does fit today’s trend for smaller watches (Blackbay 54 just released as an example)

I would say it wouldn’t fit a larger wrist but due to the size your partner could definitely wear this one too.

I have a real sentimental attachment to this watch it is almost 20 years old and for a quartz watch this really does have longevity.

Watches do not always have to the “latest” or “most” expensive but if you have a sentimental attachment to a watch it can mean more to you than anything else above cost.

What do you think of the Claude Valentini Superior Sports watch and more importantly what watch in your collection means the most to you?
