Michael Kors Gage Chronograph

Ok let’s talk about the elephant in the room… yes this is a fashion watch and some of you maybe  already thinking about leaving but stick with me as I tell you why I bought this watch and why I think the Michael Kors Gage Chronograph it is a great watch.

Eight years ago I hit 20 years working for my company and was lucky enough to receive vouchers & at this point I had never really spent a lot of money on a watch so to celebrate I decided to spend the vouchers on a watch.

I looked at some Seiko’s and was very close to buying one particular model but when I tried it on it just didn’t look or feel right on my wrist.

Feeling a little disappointed I walked past a window of a jewellers and there it was the Michael Kors Gage Chronograph and I just loved the look of it and the rest is history.

Let us look at what drew me to this watch….

Face & Case

At 45mm this is a big boy and with my wrists at only 6” the one reservation I had was it would be too big but with a lug to lug of 53mm I can get away with it and yes some might say it is too big.

What really drew me to this watch was the unique look of the dial I do love a chronograph as I have mentioned before and this one just blew me away with black dial and three sub dials displaying at 60 seconds, 30 & 60 minutes.

Luminous hands and index hour markers along with Arabic numeral minute makers (at 5-minute intervals) and minute markers round the outer rim really do make this watch stand out from the crowd.

The date window is set between the 4 and 5 o’clock however, with so much going on the dial I cannot help but think that did not really need a date window at all.

Mineral glass & A fixed stainless steel bezel with a matt finish, the case height is 13mm but fits nicely on the wrist and a shirt cuff can easily slide over it if needs be.

Michael Kors

Strap Type

A lovely leather strap with a lug to lug of 22mm which means you have many options if a leather strap is not your thing and is nicely finished off with a buckle clasp & powered by a very reliable Japanese quartz movement.

Water Resistant

An impressive 100m water resistance not too bad for a “fashion” watch.

Final Thoughts

I know what you are thinking this blog was set up primarily for watches for smaller wrists and possibly the purists who do not like a “fashion” watch but sometimes you have to break the rules and this watch made me break my rules.

I absolutely love the look of this watch and quite honestly, this is the watch I get most compliments from, yes it is big but it does fit well on the wrist and can be worn for most events from dressing down in a T-Shirt and jeans to more dressy events this watch will not be out of place.

I truly believe if you love a watch and it is within your means to purchase then do it whether it is a well-known brand or something not so popular then go for it.
