Whether you have a small or a large collection we tend to gravitate to certain watches so here are the watches that get the most wrist time in my collection & what occasions they are worn for.
Invicta Pro Diver
The Pro Diver has the most wrist time of any of my watches as it is my everyday watch, whether I am working from home, working in the office or just popping to the shops this is the one I pick up the most.
It is durable and as tough as they come, while I am no diver I am a desk diver and this watch has taken quite a few hits on desks with no damage at all.
The only drawback from this watch is the thickness at 14mm which personally I do not mind and, on a rubber, strap it does not feel too heavy, but some will find the thickness off putting.
The other issue is the Invicta logo engraved on the side but it’s hardly noticeable, all that being said the pros far outweigh the cons 40mm case size, a reliable automatic movement, water resistance of 200 metres and it looks good with some Submariner vibes at a fraction of the price.
Overall, a particularly viable choice for an everyday watch.
Casio GA-B2100 AKA The Casioak
Whether you are a watch collector or not everyone needs a Casio and the Casioak is the perfect choice.
This is worn for the more casual occasions but still has enough wrist presence to get you noticed and even a compliment or two.
Known as the Casioak due to the case shape which is similar to the AP Royal Oak the Casioak has far more to it, Bluetooth connectivity was a big plus for me, but Casio also have a battery version.
Solar powered so the sun charges the watch, and it even has a handy battery charge indicator to tell you how much power you have which is a nice touch.
As with Casio it has a lot of functionality from five alarms, LED backlight, stopwatch, and a world timer and is 200m water resistant too.
If I am heading out for a drink or a more casual event or even having a dress down day in the office the Casioak is an excellent choice.
Seiko Speedtimer
My most recent purchase and it has become a watch I gravitate to very quickly so much so it might be rivalling the Invicta Pro Diver as my everyday watch and with good reason.
The watch has a gorgeous white dial with three sub dials all placed perfectly and hits the sweet spot at 39mm and looks fantastic on the wrist.
The bracelet is made of stainless steel and fits the aesthetic perfectly being brushed rather than polished and with lug to lug of 20mm you can easily swap the bracelet out for a rubber strap which again looks great.
Another watch that is solar powered (this seems to be a theme) and it also has a power reserve indicator, so you know when the watch needs charging.
The Speedtimer has quickly become a favourite mainly down to it’s versatility, it can be worn for every occasion from the office to more casual events or you can even get away wearing this one with a suit in my opinion.
A brilliant watch for the price and a watch enthusiasts favourite and for good reason.
Tissot PRX
When the PRX was released, I was immediately smitten but after reading the reviews there were many comments on how the 40mm case was too large and there was some overhang on the end links however that still did not put me off considering my small wrist size.
The question is am I glad I did not listen? the answer is a resounding Yes!!
I do not believe the overhang is bad even on my wrist, but what really puts this in a class of its own is the dial and bracelet.
Originally released as a quartz at 40mm but with a stunning sunburst blue dial it really has a special touch and combined with the bracelet it still has great wrist presence and admiring glances.
There is an automatic version with a stunning waffle dial for those of you who prefer automatic movements and want to lean into the AP look even more.
It can be again be worn in most situations from a casual pair of jeans and T-Shirt to a smart outfit, I would not have a problem with wearing this with a suit as it does have dressier look.
There are so many variants which have now been released not only in dial colour but in case size and materials so there is one out there for every taste.
Tudor Blackbay58
To celebrate my 50th birthday I did a lot of research and finally landed on the Blackbay58 and it is not a choice I have ever regretted.
The gold and black dial is still as stunning as it was when I bought it but I also love the vintage look without going too far.
39mm which again hits the sweet spot and only 11mm in thickness this sits great on the wrist with a three-link bracelet.
What really does make this watch special is the black dial with gilt markers, its not too flashy but people will notice how stunning it is.
The snowflake hand is a bit marmite you either love it or hate it, personally I love it and adds even more character to the watch.
Another big plus is the bezel which has some of the best clicks you can imagine and that is not only my opinion but most “watch experts” will say the same.
The only gripe that I see online especially is the three-link bracelet has no micro adjustments… well that has now been rectified with the recently updated iteration with a nice shiny new five link bracelet and T-Fit clasp.
The Blackbay58 is such a versatile watch it could be worn in every situation and even recently I wore this to Royal Ascot with a three-piece suit.
If it is good enough for James Bond to do, then it is good enough for me.
